MARBRÉ No. 5

< PREVIOUS   /   NEXT >

The No. 5 Stone pattern is marbled in oxblood red, black, brown, and beige.

Stone, or Turkish base, is used for many marbling designs and is one of the oldest European patterns, dating back to the early 15th century. Many layers of tiny drops are added by tapping a brush dipped in paint over the bath until a rich, pebbly, pattern is achieved. The first drops are pushed out by the new ones, transforming the previous drops into veins.

Stone is also called Turkish, Spot, Agate, Stein, Achat, and Caillouté Simple.
