The No. 37 Wavy Palm pattern is marbled in chromium green, cerulean blue, black, gold and silver, on black paper.
Wavy Palm is a modern pattern, from the 20th century, that requires four different combs and is demanding to make. A Turkish base (the oldest European marbling pattern, dating back to the early 15th century), which is made by tapping colours from a brush onto the marbling bath, creating a random, spotted pattern. A comb is drawn twice in wavy lines vertically, in opposite directions, through the Turkish base. Lastly, a comb is drawn vertically in lines, creating a pattern resembling palm fronds.
