The No. 35 Shell pattern is marbled in black on a pale red paper.
Shell was created in France in the late 18th century. Colours are sprinkled onto the marbling bath, one of them being mixed with oil, which creates a bubbly pattern where the oily dots are dark in the middle and lighter in the outline.
Shell is also called French Shell, Caillouté Agate, Ringader and Vogelaugen.
